1) Open fires: permitted in QPWS barbecues only (except when fire bans or prohibitions apply). Fires should not be left unattended. Fuel stoves are recommended.

Things to know
The camping area can be accessed by conventional vehicles, making it easy for visitors to reach. The camping sites at Castle Rock are spacious, with dimensions of 5 meters by 6 meters. These sites are suitable for small to large tents. Castle Rock camping area caters to a wide range of visitors, including larger family or friend groups and persons with disabilities (PWD). There are specifically dedicated sites for these groups, with PWD facilities including a toilet and shower cubicle (BYO portable shower and water). Camping site features include semi-grassed and semi-shaded sites suitable for tents, camper trailers, small caravans, and motorhomes. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Facilities at the camping area include shower cubicles, toilets, unfiltered water (treat before drinking), communal picnic tables, and wood barbecues. There are no powered sites. Open fires are permitted in designated Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) barbecues unless fire bans or prohibitions apply. Fuel stoves are recommended, and visitors should bring their own cleaned, milled firewood if they plan to use the barbecues. Generators are not permitted. Essentials to bring include drinking water, rubbish bags (no bins provided), insect repellent, a fuel or gas stove in case of wet weather, warm clothing, and warm bedding. Please note that mobile phone coverage is not available in the camping area.
Neighborhood
The camping area offers picturesque views of Girraween's signature peak, Castle Rock, and The Pyramid. Visitors can relax and unwind in the midst of nature, listening to the forest symphony of birdsong and observing eastern grey kangaroos grazing on the grassed areas. It is a wonderful base for exploring the natural beauty of Girraween National Park.
