Situated within the stunning Mount Elliot region, this camping area is accessible only by foot, offering a unique and immersive outdoor experience for those who are well-prepared and seek adventure. Distance: It's a 1.6km one-way hike from the Alligator Creek day use area to Cockatoo Creek camping area. The hike follows the Cockatoo Creek trail. This camping area is designed for tent camping. Campers should be prepared for a moderate walk to reach the camping area. There are no facilities provided at this camping area. Open fires are prohibited; bring a fuel or gas stove. Generators are not permitted. Campers must be completely self-sufficient, carrying their own food, water, and a fuel stove. Mobile Phone Coverage: Mobile phone coverage is poor in the area, so be prepared for limited connectivity. Be aware that access to Cockatoo Creek camping area may be closed at times due to localised flooding, extreme weather conditions, or park management activities. Wheelchair facilities are not provided at Cockatoo Creek camping area.
