Things to know

Access to Hunters Gorge camping area requires a high clearance 4WD, and the road leading to the site demands careful navigation. The camping area itself offers two distinct open bush camping sections, accommodating both large groups and individual camps. While it is well-suited to camper trailers, its exposure to frequent high winds and limited shade necessitates thoughtful preparation for the elements. Camping here is a back-to-basics experience, with no defined sites; campers are encouraged to set up within clear areas at least 10 meters away from the riverbank. Facilities at the camping area are simple and cater to the needs of outdoor enthusiasts. Given its remote location, visitors are advised to come well-prepared. Mobile phone coverage is unavailable in this area, making satellite phones and UHF radios highly recommended for communication.
