Armit Island is situated in the south-western corner of the island, approximately 17 km to the north-west of Airlie Beach. Access to the camping area is exclusively via boat, enhancing the sense of adventure associated with reaching this secluded spot. The camping area is designed for tent camping, fostering a genuine connection with the natural surroundings. The absence of permanent structures maintains the camping experience in harmony with the island's environment. The camping area features an open layout without formally designated sites. It is suitable for a maximum of 12 people, making it an excellent choice for small groups seeking an intimate camping experience. Armit Island Camping Area deliberately lacks modern facilities, encouraging campers to be self-reliant and to fully embrace the rugged outdoor experience. Campers are encouraged to bring their own essentials for a comfortable stay. Campers are advised to bring their own drinking water, rubbish bags to ensure proper waste disposal, insect repellent to ward off insects, and a fuel stove for cooking. Seasonal Restrictions: Between October 1st and March 31st each year, access to the southern beach and Little Armit Island is restricted. Mobile phone coverage is not available on the island, emphasizing the remote and disconnected nature of the camping experience.
