Blackbird Flat Camping Ground is located on the Macleay Valley Coast on the western side of Kempsey. Situated on the Kempsey Armidale Road.

It is a free camping area located beside the Macleay River, which offers a back-to-nature camping experience. It's a great place for outdoor enthusiasts so bring the fishing rod, or canoe and enjoy what nature has to offer.

Tank water is available but brings drinking water. Pit toilets, shelter shed, and covered wood barbecue area. Enjoy fishing, swimming, canoeing, picnicking, four-wheel driving, and walking.
