Boorangoora (Lake McKenzie) Walkers' Camp is accessible by walk-in only, providing a sense of remoteness and tranquility. Private vessels can access the sheltered western coastline of K'gari, but be cautious as the eastern coastline is hazardous and exposed to rough ocean conditions. There are no boat ramps on the island. The campsite offers picnic tables, non-flush toilets, and designated areas for tent camping. Pitch your tent in the designated areas within the campsite, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural surroundings. The K'gari Great Walk is typically open from March 1st to October 31st each year, subject to environmental conditions. Fire danger risk may affect access at other times. To ensure a comfortable and responsible camping experience, bring your own drinking water, rubbish bags for waste disposal, and insect repellent. Keep in mind that mobile phone coverage in this area is unreliable.
