Things to know
The camping area is accessible by conventional vehicles, and there are two access roads (northern and western) leading to the Girraween Visitor Centre, which is conveniently located just 300 meters north of Castle Rock Creek camping area. The camping area features spacious sites that are 12 meters by 9 meters in size, making them suitable for various types of camping setups, including small caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, and tents. Castle Rock camping area provides a range of options for campers, including sites for caravans, camper trailers, campervans, motorhomes, and tents. There are also dedicated sites for larger family or friend groups and persons with disabilities (PWD). PWD sites come with accessible facilities, including a toilet and shower cubicle. Open fires permitted in QPWS barbecues only (except when fire bans or prohibitions apply). Fires should not be left unattended. Fuel stoves are recommended. Visitors should come prepared with essentials such as drinking water, rubbish bags (as there are no provided bins), insect repellent, fuel or gas stoves in case of wet weather, warm clothing, and warm bedding. Mobile phone coverage is not available in this remote natural setting.
Neighborhood
The camping area is an excellent starting point for exploring the natural beauty of Girraween National Park. Campers can relax amidst the stunning backdrop of views to The Pyramid and Castle Rock. The serene forest setting is enhanced by the soothing symphony of bird songs. Eastern grey kangaroos can often be spotted grazing on the grassy areas, providing a unique opportunity to observe native wildlife. The forest canopy is alive with abundant birdlife.
