High Island camping area is nestled on the north-west side of High Island. To reach this picturesque location, campers need to access the island by private boat. Two primary options for boat ramps are available for launching: the Mulgrave River boat ramp and the Russell River boat ramp. The campsite can accommodate a single large group with a maximum of 11 people, fostering an intimate and exclusive atmosphere. The ground surface of the campsite consists of sand and dirt, blending seamlessly with the natural environment. Open fires are not permitted in the camping area to ensure safety and environmental preservation. Campers can use fuel stoves for cooking. Additionally, generators are prohibited to maintain a quiet and serene atmosphere. Campers are advised to bring essential items including a tarpaulin for shelter, a shovel, drinking water, toilet paper, rubbish bags, a fuel stove for cooking, a comprehensive first-aid kit, insect repellent, and sun protection equipment. Proper preparation ensures a comfortable and safe camping experience. It's important to note that mobile phone coverage on the island is very limited or not available, allowing campers to disconnect from the digital world and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the surroundings.
