Miners Campground

On the far side of the Irwin River, in the Coalseam Conservation Park, there are two old coal mineshafts that can still be observed near Miners Camp. Although the park is mostly recognized for its yearly exhibition of wildflowers, visitors can also indulge in searching for fossils in the banks of the river.

Additional rules

Only campfires lit by the campground hosts are allowed from July to October, in the provided communal pit, and when conditions permit. No other campfires are permitted at any time.
Dogs are not allowed.
Generator use is only allowed at all campsites between 9am – 11am and 4pm – 6pm.
Do not dispose of chemical toilet waste into campground toilets. Carry the waste out of the park and dispose of it in an authorized dump point.
Carry all waste out of the park as there are no bins provided.

Things to know

here is no drinking water available.
The only personal hygiene facility are no-flush pit toilets.
From December to April, the weather can be extremely hot and the risk of bushfires is very high.
Storms are frequent between May and October throughout WA.
Before traveling, make sure you have enough supplies such as water, food, fuel, medication, and first aid. Also, ensure you have appropriate equipment and clothing for the conditions.

Neighborhood

Discover the diverse bushland of the northern wheatbelt region of the Midwest, which boasts a stunning array of flowers, including the mesmerizing everlastings during the wildflower season. You can also learn about the fascinating geology of the area and explore Western Australia's first coal mine site, where coal seams and fossil remnants are visible in the rock strata along the Irwin River. The Irwin Lookout, located on the major cliff top in the park, provides breathtaking views over the Irwin River valley and the breakaway landform. Please ensure that you stay behind the barriers for your own safety. On the eastern bank of the Irwin River, you can find the Fossil site, where ancient marine fossils can be seen south of the car park within the cliff on the other side of the river. However, please take care when walking or wading across the river. You can also access the fossil site from Riverbend by foot. Coal seams can be seen in the cliffs north of the car park. Please do not disturb any fossils or coal seams, leave them there for others to enjoy.
