Additional rules
If you come across a campsite marked as "Tents Only", it implies that the campsite is inaccessible to vehicles. As a result, you will have to park your vehicle outside the camp area, making it unsuitable for camper trailers or vehicle pop-up tents. In case you have a cement fire ring provided with your site, you are allowed to light a fire within it.
Things to know
The bush campsite is situated directly on the beach and provides long drop toilets and dump points. You can access the beach with a four-wheel drive vehicle and launch boats from the site. The campsite does not have electricity, but generators are allowed. Additionally, you will need to bring your own drinking water since potable water is not available.
The Starvation Bay Campground can be reached by 2WD from Hopetoun via the picturesque Southern Ocean Road. The road is partially sealed up to 12 mile beach before becoming unsealed. Alternatively, if you are travelling from Esperance, you can take the Jerdacuttup Road (sealed) and Fence Road (unsealed) to reach the campground. The campgrounds are suitable for families and pets, but can be quite busy during Christmas and January. In early January, local Vacation Swim Lessons are held in the bay which further adds to the crowds.
Neighborhood
The picturesque setting of Starvation Bay Campground offers a range of activities that will make it hard for you to leave. The white sandy beaches, rock pools, and clear waters are perfect for swimming and snorkeling. You can also enjoy beachside camping and fishing, and there is a boat launching point available.
