Upper Noosa River Camping Area 8 is situated within the Cooloola Recreation Area, part of the Great Sandy National Park. It is located on the Sunshine Coast, positioned between Noosa Heads and Rainbow Beach, approximately 155-240 kilometers north of Brisbane. Canoeists can launch their vessels at Elanda Point and paddle approximately 4.5 kilometers (about 1 hour) to reach the Kinaba Visitor Information Centre. Paddlers should stick close to the shoreline, especially when heading north across Lake Cootharaba. The journey continues for about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Kinaba to Harrys camping area and another 2 hours and 40 minutes from Harrys to campsite 8. Upper Noosa River Camping Area 8 provides a pristine location for tent camping in the heart of nature. Access to your campsite is a short walk from the small sandy beach where you land your canoe or boat. This campsite allows one site with a maximum of four people. The use of generators is not permitted, ensuring a peaceful and eco-friendly atmosphere. Open fires are prohibited. Visitors are advised to bring their own drinking water, rubbish bags, and insect repellent to ensure a comfortable and responsible camping experience. It's crucial to leave no trace and take care of the environment. Mobile phone coverage on the island is poor, allowing campers to truly disconnect from the outside world and immerse themselves in the natural surroundings.

This wilderness escape offers a chance to experience the natural beauty of the Noosa River in its purest form, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. As you approach campsite 8, a short track leads through a gully adorned with paperbark trees and reeds, taking you to your private campsite hidden within a lush forest. The campsite is surrounded by a variety of tree species, including scribbly gum, pink bloodwood, banksias, and swamp paperbarks. Nature enthusiasts will be treated to the soothing sounds of frog calls at night and the delightful chorus of birdsong in the morning, as motorized boats are not allowed in this remote area.
