Wallaby Rocks Camping Area
This campground is very large but mainly made of river pebbles. If you are tent-based camping, you may be better off with one of the other sites on the eastern side of Sofala. Camper trailers and small caravans would be fine though.
Member C.J.B has noted that there's an elevated grassed area on the eastern/Sofala side of the grounds that are suitable for tent-based camping.
The track-in is a little lumpy, although can usually be accessed by 2wd vehicles.
The creek here is narrow but quite attractive with the small sandstone cliffs looming up on the opposite bank.
There are a few spots with shade from the casuarina trees, however, most of the sites would get plenty of sun.
In the summer, this would make a great swimming hole, especially after some rain to clear the water up. There are the occasional trout taken from these waters, although when I was in this section, all I saw were carp.
