Beach Camping Zone 3 is situated on K'gari (Fraser Island), which is located 15km off the coast of Hervey Bay and about 300km north of Brisbane. Access to the camping zone is primarily by high clearance 4WD vehicles, but it can also be reached on foot, by plane, or with a commercial tour. The camping zone is on the eastern side of the island between Poyungan Rocks and Happy Valley. Camping facilities include tent camping, camper trailer camping, and tent camping beside a car. Generators are allowed with conditions. The camping area offers dappled shade from coastal she oaks and ocean breezes. Walkers can board a vehicle barge, and flights are available from Hervey Bay and Maryborough.
Private vessels can access the island's western coastline, while the eastern coastline is hazardous.

There are opportunities for walking, scenic drives, fishing, and relaxing on the beach. Visitors can swim at Lake Garawongera, explore the K'gari Great Walk, and see the vibrant colors of Rainbow Gorge. Relaxation options include spending time at your campsite or engaging in beach fishing. The Eastern Beach scenic drive is accessible 2 hours before or after low tide. The area is home to diverse flora and fauna, including the lilac-fluted bloom of goat's foot vines.
