Visitors can reach the camping area by boat across the Awoonga Dam and then proceed on foot across Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) land. It's essential to obtain permission from GAWB before entering or crossing their land. The number of camping sites is undefined, allowing for flexibility in finding a suitable spot. Castle Tower bush camping area is suitable for small tent camping only. The surface of the camping area consists of natural dirt and grass, providing an authentic bush camping experience. Open fires are strictly prohibited in the Castle Tower bush camping area. Campers are allowed to use gas and/or fuel stoves only for cooking purposes. The use of generators is not permitted in order to maintain the peaceful and natural ambiance of the site. Campers should come prepared with essential supplies, including food and drinking water. Sturdy rubbish bags are a must to carry out all waste. Insect repellent and sun protection are recommended for comfort. Additionally, campers should have a remote area first aid kit, a reliable torch, Map 9149 Calliope topographic map, a compass, and communication equipment. Due to unreliable mobile phone coverage, it's advisable to bring satellite phones, UHF radios, PLBs (Personal Locator Beacons), and EPIRBs (Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacons) for safety.
