Cochable Creek camping area is a serene and remote camping spot nestled alongside Cochable Creek, offering a tranquil escape into the heart of nature. Situated in Queensland, Australia, this camping area serves as the starting point for two remarkable wilderness tracks, the Koolmoon Creek track and the Cannabullen Creek track, both of which are part of the Misty Mountains wilderness tracks.

2) Generators: only generators that operate at or below 65dB(A) are permitted. Generators may be operated only between 8.00am and 7.00pm.

Things to know

Access to the camping area can be achieved either by 4WD vehicles or on foot. Unfortunately, it is not accessible for caravans, campervans, or motorhomes. Visitors must park their vehicles in a designated parking area and carry their camping gear a short distance of approximately 50 meters to the camping and day-use area. Cochable Creek camping area does not have separately defined campsites; instead, it offers an open camping area for a more communal and rustic camping experience. The camping area features a grassy surface, providing a comfortable and natural setting for camping. Basic facilities such as sheltered picnic tables and a hybrid toilet are available. While creek water is accessible, it's important to note that it is not suitable for drinking, so campers are advised to bring their drinking water. Open fires are not permitted in this area to preserve the natural environment. Campers are encouraged to use fuel stoves for cooking. If you plan to use a generator, be mindful that only generators operating at or below 65dB(A) are allowed, and they may only be operated between the hours of 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM to ensure a peaceful camping experience for all. Campers should come prepared with essentials such as drinking water, food, rubbish bags, insect repellent, and a fuel stove to ensure a comfortable and responsible camping experience.
