Things to know

The campsite is accessible via high clearance 4WDs and off-road camper trailers, making it suitable for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure. It's worth noting that the camping area is enclosed by a dingo deterrent fence. Due to this, the campsite is recommended for families with children aged 14 and under for added safety. Generators are not permitted, ensuring a peaceful camping experience. There is a 9pm noise curfew in place to maintain a quiet atmosphere. For those with private vessels, the sheltered western coastline of K'gari can be accessed. However, the eastern coastline is exposed to hazardous ocean conditions. Boaters can launch their boats at mainland boat ramps between Tin Can Bay and Burnett Heads, as there are no boat ramps on K'gari's coast. Mobile phone coverage is available around the Dundubara office, a short walk from the camping area.

Dundubara's campers get to enjoy a sheltered environment protected from ocean winds and surrounded by a shady woodland. There are opportunities to explore the Wungul Sandblow or take a relaxing stroll along the sandy beach. For the more adventurous, the 22.4km return Lake Bowarrady walk offers an energetic hike. As evening falls, campers gather around communal fire rings, sharing stories against the backdrop of waves softly crashing ashore. The morning sun rises over the ocean horizon, providing a stunning backdrop as various bird species greet the day. Dundubara Camping Area offers a secluded and well-equipped camping experience, allowing campers to immerse themselves in the natural beauty and tranquility of K'gari.
