Things to know
Access to The Wrecks camping area is limited to high clearance 4WD vehicles and boats. It is not suitable for campers with camper trailers. Campers driving 4WD vehicles can reach the toilet facilities, but they need to park on the beach and walk a short distance to each campsite. The campground offers a maximum of 21 sites, all marked with totems. Due to seasonal closures, not all sites may be occupied throughout the year. The campsites are located on sandy terrain, providing a genuine beachfront experience. Open fires are prohibited at The Wrecks camping area. Generator use is not permitted in order to preserve the natural tranquility of the area. Campers are advised to bring their own drinking water and containers, water sterilization tablets, rubbish bags, sunscreen, insect repellent, sealable containers for rubbish, a first-aid kit, and sand pegs for securing tents. Mobile phone coverage in the area is poor and unreliable. For better reception, you may need to head to Tangalooma Resort on the island. However, a QldParks-Wifi hotspot is available at The Wrecks camping area for limited connectivity.
Neighborhood
