Things to know
The camping area is situated on the bank above Lawn Hill Creek, nestled within a lush gorge carved into the dry savannah landscape. It is accessible by conventional vehicles, making it reachable for a wide range of visitors. There are six tent-only camping sites, some of which offer shade, and all are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tent sites are suitable for camping beside your car, and some are wheelchair accessible. Camping facilities include flush toilets, cold showers, and water (which should be treated before use). It's essential to bring your own fuel or gas stove for cooking and rubbish bags for responsible waste disposal. Mobile phone coverage in the area is limited and unreliable, so be prepared for limited connectivity.
Neighborhood
The camping area is surrounded by the natural beauty of Lawn Hill Gorge, a lushly vegetated gorge with a spring-fed creek amidst a diverse savanna landscape. Activities include walking, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming in the clear creek waters. The park offers a variety of walking tracks to explore the gorge and its surroundings. Birdwatchers will enjoy observing a diverse range of birds nesting and feeding in the vegetation along the creek. You can also enjoy the changing colors of the cliffs at sunset and stargazing under the outback sky at night.
